Welcome to The Own Label Awards Championship 2009

This event has been designed to give the consumer a completely transparent overview of the best own label and exclusively imported wines and other alcoholic beverages that are available in the supermarkets, major multiples and department stores throughout the UK.

Over three days at the end of September 2009, the products entered by each retailer will again be judged in a blind competition by impartial and renowned judges, head to head, comparing like for like, to give the consumer an informed choice.

Our stellar panel of judges this year will include Matthew Jukes, Joe Wadsack, Oz Clarke, Charles Metcalfe, Anthony Rose, Simon Woods, Christine Austin, Nick Faith, David Broom, Tim Atkin MW, John Downes MW, Peter McCrombie MW, Sarah-Jane Evans MW, Richard Bampfield MW and Anne Tupker MW.

Sales of own label and exclusively imported wines represent over 40% of sales overall in this sector, and the OLA Championship, which will continue to be held every year, is designed not only to inform the consumer of the best value wines and other alcoholic beverages to buy, and from where to buy them, but also help each retailer both to assess their buying methods and their performance against their peers.
